What are the best places in Bombay to find a traditional Indian (Asian) bridal ghagra or lehnga choli?

I am looking for a traditional outfit with detailed embroidery. I want a waist length or longer (not cropped) choli/blouse/shirt and a full ghagra/lehnga/skirt. I will most likely get traditional dark red, but I am not ruling out other colors. I need to know where in Mumbai I can find a wide selection of quality bridalwear. I won't have much time to shop so I want to make my trip efficient:) I don't want it to be a totally blind made-to-order purchase. I want to be able to try the style on to get a general idea of what it would look like, even if the color might need to change or another outfit made so that the size would be better fitted to me. This is especially important to me because I don't have the traditional Indian figure (I am very busty but slim elsewhere). In other wordsI don't mind if my specific tailored dress needs to be shipped at a later date, but I want to see the quality of what I'm getting and at least a rough idea of what it would look like on me. :)

  1. get a fashion magazine from any store. inside they will have ads for all the couture and designer clothes and their phones numbers and addresses. it is one of the easiest ways....
  2. I don't know any names of stores off hand, but Sahil is one that I've heard. I haven't been to India in a long time, but I know they have TONS of stores next door to one another, so you shouldnt have trouble finding the ghagras and cholis. And if you're taking a taxi/rikshaw, just ask the driver, they usually know of good places. :) Congrats on the wedding!
