What stores sell formal wear for women that are 20 and over?

Can anyone please name the stores that have formal gowns for women that are 20 and over? Thanks. I'm taking about the stores that have affordable gowns that are under $300. I live in the US.

If you're on a bit more of a budget and live in the UK, Debenhams do a great range of formal gowns for £100 or less
Macy's, Sears, and JC Penney are some local stores that do have a small selection of affordable formal gowns. (Might not be the kind you would like.)
JCPenny. Zara. (If you have Zara close to where you live, check it out - they usually have nice dresses and it's not expensive either..) White House Black Market. They have chic and sophisticated gowns/dresses that don't look like they were made for a high school prom. They are about in your price range as well as have many locations throughout the US :) Good luck!
