What is the highest heel suitable for formal/office wear?
I usually wear 4" heels to the office, and I thought that was about the highest heel you could wear in a formal environment. But I've started to see a few women in my building wearing what I'm sure are 5" heels. By best friend said she used to have a colleague who would occasionally wear 6" heels to the office. I thought anything above 4" wasn't formal enough (let along practical enough) for wearing to the office. What do you think? Have you seen women wearing heels higher than 4" in an office situation?

- wow I thougt 3 or 2 but I really think you should stay under 4 and also it depends if you are wearing a skirt which is more noticeable or pinstipe suit (iam a big fan) but as long as it doesnt' look clubbish because if so I think it's sending a wrong msg. P.S. My friend has heels up to 8 inches wow!
- Hi Ks, Forget the fashion. Wear what is practical and comfortable for you. A 2 ' heel is the most comfortable particulary if you have to walk around a bit or walk to the Underground before and after work.
- I think if the heel does not have a platform then you can get away with 4 or 5 inches. If there is a platform involved, thats when it starts to look a little tasteless & inappropriate for work.
- I wear at least 4" for work up to 6"'s. There are lots of great 6" designer heels available now. I have several and wear them often, rock those heels if you can!
- I think it's more about how the particular heels look. If they look formal enough for work, then the height doesn't really matter. I've seen a couple of women in what looked like 5 inch heels at work and they were fine. I wear 4 inch often...if I was used to higher I'd wear them too.
- the higher the better~!!!
- 3-4" is most suitable for formal/office wear. 5-6" is nice but sounds a bit high, I think you should take a rule/measure to your/their shoes to check you have the heel length correct, unless they are platforms. 6-7" is the maximum achievable by anyone without a platform. 5-6" are mostly worn in the glamor industry, and if anyone has the skill to wear them then why not! But generally 3-4" is the standard. Please see the below link for further information. J x
