Do you think there is any formal wear for men besides the old suit and tie?
I really wish there was something in men's formal wear, besides the old grey suit and necktie.... They've tried with the Ascot and the Leisure Suit, and even there they did OK in their day. Everyone bought it for a time. Solve that dilemma, and you'll be rich beyond your wildest dreams. How about long-sleeved tie-dyed t shirts, and jeans with a big ringed belt? Would that fly in the board room?

- NO TIE DYE! I would suggest a pale pink button down--unbuttoned a bit (like 2 buttons) at the top and sleeves rolled up 3/4 with some nice black pants. here's a good website: http://www.thomaspink.com/fcp/categorylist/men/Shirts?filterNameAlias=colour&addFilter=MASTER_COLOUR&filterValue=pink i think the shirts are so awesome, you don't need a tie or suit!
- yes, you can wear a vest!! look how they changed that "old grey suit and necktie" look: http://www.flickr.com/photos/anna-jonas/2054270476/ be creative. jonas bros rule!
- most suits on the market are junk. their cut is aweful, their tayloring is cheap, and the material is absolute crap. it took me 4 years to find a good suit that fits, and i only ever wear it on the most formal of occasions. i'd have more respect for someone who wears quality pants (dress cords/jeans included) with a nice button up, than with someone who wears an ugly suit. you can still buy a leisure suit today, its called jean jacket with matching pair of jeans (or the same equivalent in cords), or maybe the blazer/cotton pants look. i'll pass on the polyester -- but i do appreciate the psycho colors of the 70s disco shirts.
- yeaa you could wear like dark wash jeans with a olive colored or if you look good in like a burgundy or maybe even a navy (but m not to sure bout' that one) blazer and ether a plain colored tee or a button down shirt ithink that would look awesome! :) i hope ya like my idea! :)
- I don't think you'll change the corporate look overnight.... there are some good suggestions in the answers already posted. I am more conservative than most - I wear a three piece suit and bowtie most of the time - I think it works for me - and I'm not a member of the boardroom nor am I an architect or a doctor or a lawyer that you might find wearing the type of clothes I prefer.
- I think adding a jacket to any outfit can make it more "formal" and then you can add your own flare with the type of material - for example, a leather suit jacket, a purple velvet jacket or a military style one with zipper pockets.
