What should I wear to a formal Mexican Wedding?

I am going to a wedding in Monterrey, Mexico in a few weeks. The invitation states Formal, but the groom says dark suits for men (not tuxedos). As a woman, how should I shop? Evening gown or just a very nice dress? Wedding starts at 9 pm. Someone please help me! I hate to be over or under dressed for the occasion. The bride is Mexican. The groom is American but lives in Mexico (has dual citizenship)

1. umm.. just put on a nice dress.. mayb change to a formal gown l8r.. or ask the groom if u know him

Well i have been to many wedding in monterrey and if you know them personaly like family close friends...etc then you should dress formally but if you dont know them it would be ok to wear a pretty dress .just make sure its not a prom dress or anything like that. Have funn! Also to add you dance a lot at the wedding so something comfortable
3. i think u should wear something simple and very nice that looks for the occation and if ur going to mexico something cassual would be good . GOOD LUCK AT THE WEDDING
4. Maybe something Mexican, other wise, show that u r from America and where something American!
