A "Semi-formal" wedding dress?

Hi, could you help me, please? Our wedding will be in the evening, with the ceremony held at sunset. Our ceremony venue is a victorian-looking chapel, not a cathedral church. Our reception is a ballroom but not the "grand" ballroom. We will be having fifty guests. The food is...I don't know? Semi-formal? We are paying for the finest beef and top shelf alcohol but are not having lobster or anything. The meal is to keep guests happy but will be served simply. Guests will be attending in their Sunday Best, which will still be elegant but we want them to be comfortable. Overall, we want something playful, but still formal enough to show respect to our elders. So...what sort of dress would fit this venue? I'm a young lady with an eye for a ballgown, but I'm not sure if our wedding is suited for one? Are they for large guest list, black tie only? What traits make a dress "semi-formal" besides a chapel train? Is a semi-formal dress allowed to have beaded lace? Some sparkle? I don't want to look like a fool. I have a beautiful dream of wearing an Eve of Milady gown but they look formal only. At the risk of sounding like a starry eyed child, I would like to look like a "princess" for one day...without embarrassing myself, that is. Some facts about me. I'm twenty-three years old. My apprehensive nature is entirely on me. Our families and friends have been supportive of every decision. We are paying for our own wedding, so no one besides my fiance has any "say"(suggestions are welcome; strong-arming is not) to what I wear. My fiance is completely biased and thinks I'll look good in anything, but has requested something "fluffy". So...what do you think? Too formal? If not Eve of Milady, what dress would fit this venue, and be "fluffy"? Help? :( Just to clarify. We're not having a Victorian themed wedding. We're not really having a "theme" at all, just having things we like but want them to go well together. Thank you, though! So...this is not too formal? I love it this but is this a black tie dress only? :( http://bios.weddingbee.com/pics/101438/A_5.JPG What about these? http://dpnak.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/eve.gif Are any of these appropriate? I'd be covering my shoulders for the ceremony.

  1. Semi Formal would be perfect for what you have planned. Your guests would wear cocktail dresses for women and suits for men. You would be perfectly dressed in a formal gown or tea length. Your groom and groomsmen would be perfectly dressed in suits or tuxes.
  2. Knee length ballgown dress or Tea length wedding dress %%%
  3. I got married about a month ago it was perfect, and my wedding was a semi formal wedding sounds a lot like yours actually, but I wore my dream dress, ball gown with beads and dazzled up. It's your day so whatever you want to wear your guests and hubby will love trust me, it's your day to be a princess so wear your dream dress :) good luck and congrats!!
  4. Girl, you can wear whatever you want! It's your wedding, and it doesn't matter what everyone else is wearing for what you wear. All that matters is that you find your dream dress and you feel as amazing in it as possible. The dresses that you put up are absolutely gorgeous! Don't worry about holding back, it's your day, so feel beautiful!
  5. Those 2 dresses are beautiful but are very formal dresses. Here's some informal wedding dresses: http://www.tjformal.com/Dresses-By-Occasion/Wedding/Informal-Bridal-Gowns/D48955.html You can still look like a princess, while not being ultra formal! Here's some ballgown type dresses that are not as formal: http://www.tjformal.com/48955/541498/Informal-Bridal-Gowns/Mori-Lee-Voyage-Wedding-Dress-6133.html http://www.tjformal.com/48955/635431/Informal-Bridal-Gowns/Mori-Lee-Voyage-Wedding-Dress-6601.html http://www.tjformal.com/48955/586707/Informal-Bridal-Gowns/Mori-Lee-Voyage-Wedding-Dress-6508.html http://www.tjformal.com/48955/635450/Informal-Bridal-Gowns/Mori-Lee-Voyage-Wedding-Dress-6607.html Or you could wear a less formal gown and still wear a tiara! http://www.tjformal.com/Shoes-Jewelry--More/Accessories/Headpieces-Veils--Tiaras/D48733.html
