- i wear a size 18 and am the same height as you, i tried on tons of dresses but the ones that looked best were the halter dresses with simple a-line skirts, Bigger girls should not wear poofy skirts, lol, take my advice on that one.
- I would do ivory in color. For the dress shape, I would definitely do princess style (A-line skirt) with a small waist. This would help support your "assets" lol and make the smallest part of you look even smaller: http://www.alfredangelo.com/Collections/ProductDisplay.aspx?productID=b55ac898-18fa-467f-8f36-1a945e143d20&categoryID=32e5a88c-cbf1-498f-afcf-dbfca138c5d3&pg=0 This one is nice, too. It draws attention to the design and not necessarily your chest: http://www.alfredangelo.com/Collections/ProductDisplay.aspx?productID=51a89959-b377-46ee-976e-8e542f510a34&categoryID=32e5a88c-cbf1-498f-afcf-dbfca138c5d3&pg=0 I love this one. It's flattering for all shapes: http://www.alfredangelo.com/Collections/ProductDisplay.aspx?productID=f4db125c-67df-4704-9a05-1b86e376ffa2&categoryID=32e5a88c-cbf1-498f-afcf-dbfca138c5d3&pg=0 Best of luck!!
- I think a halter would look best, it minimizes your bust so you won't look like you are about to bust out, and if you have a small waist, maybe you can get one with a corset bodice, so you can accentuate the small waist. Also i think a wider skirt would look best, it will help even you out if you are more top heavy and helps disguise a heavier bottom. Also, i would avoid strapless, since if you are a little bit heavier on top, and have big breasts, strapless usually just looks uncomfortable and doesnt give you the support you need.
- Try check on David Bride.
- Being your short stature i'd avoid mermaid or princess style (by that I mean Cinderella, full tool skirt thing). (It'll make you look so much shorter). Your best bet is to just go to a bridal salon and try on as many dresses as you can. See what suits YOU. Because even with general rules to follow, a mermaid dress may look amazing on you. That being said, I would stick with a sweetheart neckline, a-line skirt, possibly a halter. http://www.bridalonlinestore.com/Collection/plus-size.asp?i=106218028769 This is a great site. I got mine here and it was amazing. I would find some styles you like on here, print them off and go to a bridal salon and try on similar styles. Then go back and purchase if you find something you like. I'm 5'6" and, currently, size 18 and this is the dress I bought (with straps) http://www.bridalonlinestore.com/Collection/product-page.asp?q=Wedding+Dress&SKU=Kathryn&i=106218028769 You could also try something like this: http://www.bridalonlinestore.com/Collection/product-page.asp?q=Wedding+Dress&SKU=Madison&i=106218028769 this one would be nice, and probably quite slimming. http://www.bridalonlinestore.com/Collection/product-page.asp?q=Wedding+Dress&SKU=Marissa&i=106218028769 This one would work well with your shorter stature as well. http://www.bridalonlinestore.com/Collection/product-page.asp?q=Wedding+Dress&SKU=Amy&i=106218028769 p.s. don't stress, you have PLENTY of time.lol
- Get an A line dress! It has a v going down after your waist, so it highlights the small waist and fans out over hips and legs, making it look like the dress. If you like your arms, then go for strapless a-line to show off your boobs! (I am size 14 with 36DD and this looked great on me! I am 5'5") http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i225/grantsteph/002_2.jpg
- Something that skims your body without hugging it, and one that shows off your boobs. http://flickr.com/photos/poeia8kate/1167566284/
- Here are a couple of the dresses that I tried on that looked really good. I am a size 16, I have a small wasit and 38 DD. I stand 5'6. http://www.tjformal.com/Products/2342/Maggie-Sottero-Wedding-Dress-Glorianna http://www.tjformal.com/Products/8385/Maggie-Sottero-Wedding-Dress-Victoriana Those two looked the best. One was very elaborate with a ton of beading and the other was elegant with a long train and simple beading around the top of the bust and along skirt. They helped (hold in) my chest. I really liked the way they looked. The Glorianna gown looks SO MUCH better in person, those pics are horrible. It looks much better on a bigger girl than that tiny tot in the pic. Plus the diamond white looks much better in both than they have shown in the gold colors.
- Go with the halter... nothing to dramatic or puffy. And becareful what the boobs look like. If they are bulging out.. get a bigger dress that fits them, because you can always have the dress halter. And to make your waste look flatering.. get ribbon white or colored under your bust. I have huge boobs (38d) and I just had a baby jan 13.. so dont feel bad. whatever you do, dont go strapless!
- I'm about your size-my gown was a-line with an empire waist-it looked great because the sides were taken in so I didn't look preggers. I think the best thing is to go to a good bridal salon (not David's) and ask the consultant for help. Try on whatever they offer--because gowns look just so different on than they do on the rack. The gown I ended up with was one I wouldn't have picked in a million years. Good luck, and enjoy looking!
- Princess/ A-Line will probably look great. I'm just an inch shorter than you and the same size/shape. Here is a link to a dress I tried on at David's Bridal and it looked great on me. It really made me look like I had such a tiny waist. http://www.davidsbridal.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplayView?storeId=10052&catalogId=10051&categoryId=-49998999¤tIdx=74&subCategory=-49999486%7c-49998999&catentryId=1000172 I really don't like Halter dresses because I feel they make my boobs look 10 times bigger than they are (and at 38DDD they're big enough without the accentuating style of a halter).
- HI, I don't care for what the others are suggesting. My wedding dress was a size 16, my bridesmaids both ordered size 10's and I looked just as thin as them at a size 10. http://www.davidsbridal.com these dresses V9621 T9799 9BR1035
- I love Maggie Sottero gowns and they come in plus sizes! That's what I'm wearing and I love it! Check these out: http://www.maggiesottero.com/dress.aspx?style=A3276B http://www.maggiesottero.com/dress.aspx?page=1&style=S5201 http://www.maggiesottero.com/dress.aspx?page=5&style=RD1039 http://www.maggiesottero.com/dress.aspx?page=6&style=SD5233 There are tons of Maggies on ebay and craigslist.com as well. I bought my Maggie for $140 and it was originally $1200! Good luck!
- Of course you won't know til you start trying them on - but some things to avoid would be strapless, and empire waist. Don't go with a pouffy skirt, though a full skirt might be fine, if it falls/drapes nicely. What you want is a nice silhouette to flatter your curves. Best to go with a-line, and a basque waist is wonderful if you can find it - emphasizes the waist, but flows over the hips and tushie.
