Is it appropriate to wear military uniform as wedding formal wear if you're no longer in the military?
my boyfriend is a former marine and has been honorably discharged for some years now, if we were to get married in the future would he be permitted to wear his uniform w/the military decorations as the formal wear for the wedding? or does one such have to currently be in the military to wear their uniform to their own wedding? thanks!

- He could wear it, but it would tacky and pathetic to do so if he's out.
- He's still a Marine. He can still wear the Uniform. If he couldn't wear it after he was honorably discharged. They would've taken it back. Just as long as he wears them correctly, There is no problem. Semper Fi.
- No, it would not be appropiate. The regulations say : If a veteran served during a war, then: They may wear thier uniform at military , memorial services, weddings, and inaugurals. Parades on national or state holidays; or other parades or ceremonies or a patriotic character in which any active or reserve United States military unit is taking part. 2. If the veteran did not serve in a war, then they are allowed to wear the uniform home within 3 months after discharge and no other time.
- Nothing against it, Why would they give him his uniform if he wasn't allowed to were it? Marines; the few, the proud
- Active or retired ok. Otherwise, go rent a tux.
