As a female photographer, what would you wear to a formal party?

I'm taking photos at a formal event. However, I don't know whether I should also wear formal attire, or just go with something more basic.

If it is an event where the guests will be wearing formal attire, it is best to wear something along the same lines, but that is still modest and flattering and not over the top (Think along the lines of what you would wear to a graduation or to church or court ) and doesn't hinder your photography. ( Watch out for short skirts, uncomfortable heels, or flimsy dresses that may be revealing while trying to angle for good shots.) Usually a simple dress with good accessories all you need. ( necklace and earrings or maybe a nice fascinator in your hair ) Also I find that wearing a darker color is appropriate too, so you don't stand out from the guests.
