A women's pants suit appropriate for a black-tie august wedding?
I was invited to a wedding this weekend...and I am one of those girls who just doesn't feel comfortable in a dress. In order to preserve my comfort, I would like to wear a beautiful Kasper pants suit I recently purchased. It's grey with a silvery button down shirt with a handkerchief that matches to go in the breast pocket. The invitation to the wedding said black tie...is this suit appropriate? Thank you in advance for any help!!!

- go for it!after all.... grey is close to black and white! -FiRa
- Yes they are very approriate. If the suit is very classy. You know what works is a pants suit with wide legs it always looks more fabulous than normal cut pants. With some pearls or nice shiney jewelry.
- There are some very elegant looking pansuits available for such a wedding. One with palazzo pants would be appropriate because it looks like a long skirt but it really isn't.
- i would say so, but please ask the bride first
- Yes pant suits for women are very classy.
- Sounds nice, very classy, I like the sound of the silvery shirt.
- It sounds cute!!
- No. A black tie does not go appropriately with a grey suit. Try a skirt.
- I'm old fashioned, therefore at a black tie event I would wear a dress, It dosen't have to be black, check with the bride to make sure the colour dosen't clash.
- I know exactly what you mean. Well black tie means that you have to dress formally. Typically for women this means that they're expected to wear cocktail, long dresses, or evening separates. I'd go for it if I were you. Just make sure your suit is dressy enough. If you're going for comfort in what you're wearing, dress up your appearence with some nice jewelry, accessories, and a splash of make up. I'd also make an effort to just go to a store to browse dresses and talk to a sales representative about what cuts and styles make you uncomfortable...because dresses aren't always uncomfortable...you just have to find what makes you feel good. I think the main thing is just that you want to feel comfortable...which is completely understandable....however...you don't want to feel out of place when you get there because you're under dressed or improperly dressed. Go with whatever makes you feel the best and own it! Good luck.
