Is It Tacky For Guests to Wear All Black at an Evening Wedding? I went to a wedding, and all the guests men in black suits and women in all black dresses or skirts and blouses. It looked so morbid like a funeral or something. Only the bridesmaids were in hunter green dresses which were stunning. Is this a cultural thing or what? I wore a dark blue blouse with a black skirt and blue pumps, so I was semi color coated.......
Can a woman wear a suit to an evening wedding? I am attending a wedding at the end of May and just had a baby. I would prefer to wear a nice navy suit with a dressy top underneath. Is this acceptable in a catholic wedding? The ceremony is at 5:30 and the reception is afterwards at a nice restaurant. They invitation gives no indication to the dress. Except that it is thick cream and brown paper with script. Thanks for the help!

Where can I find a decent women's suit that looks a little masculine? My girlfriend is coming with me to my sister's wedding and she needs a suit. Since us going to the wedding requires my (butch) partner to wear a women's suit, we've been looking for a women's suit that is still a little masculine (if not a lot) so she can stil be comfortable at the wedding but the bride (who "requested" the women's suit in the first place) can be mollified by the label stating that the suit is, indeed, "made for women". My girlfriend is 5'4, 34/29/37. Thanks for your help.
I want to attract single women at a wedding. Should I wear this? Got a wedding to attend to this Saturday. While I did my research on what to wear via the internet, I'm going to go with a black suit and white tee (no ties). I like the comfortable sports wear of this style without a tie choking my neck. I like to keep it loose and simple but still look good. The invitation doesn't specify a dress code but said, 'formal'. I'm also hoping to meet lots of single women. So will my style attract them? I've been told I'm good looking by a lot of female strangers/friends/families. Thoughts on this?
Women Only: Need some help with what I'm wearing to a wedding? Hi. Ok here is the issue. I know I need to get a suit at some point just incase, but up to now I have never needed one. I have a 4:30 wedding tommorrow that I'm going to with my gf and I was planing to wear the following: -Very nice navy blue Ralph Lauren sportcoat -Very nice pair of tan Nautica dress pants -White RBM Shirt -Very nice blue Nautica tie with gold and tan stripes -Tan socks -Florsheim Burgundy dress oxford shoes -Burgundy dress belt. My gf figured that I had a suite, but understood that I really have never had a need for one. She seems ok with what I'm wearing, but what do you women think. We agreed that at some point later in the year we would go suit shopping for me since we will be going to events that I need one for.
What is appropriate attire for a 70 year old woman at an summer, evening, wedding? My neice is getting married in June, in the evening, outdoors (indoor reception). My mom, who is 70, can't wear heels because of foot problems and was wanting to wear a nice pant suit to the wedding. I told her I thought it would be fine as long as it was dressy enough but the mother of the bride and my other sister are giving her a lot of crap about not wearing a dress, and how inappropriate it woudl be for her to wear pants. What is appropriate. I personally wouldn't be offended to see a woman in a very dressy pant suit, at a wedding, especially a more mature woman.
What to wear to my brother in laws wedding? My husband is in my Brother In Laws wedding. The bride has requested that I where black and white even though I am not in the wedding. I am not really sure what to look for. One father in law is wearing a tux also not in the wedding, one is wearing a suit. I'm not sure to go for a more formal or a causal look. Please help. Please keep in mind that I am a plus sized woman and the wedding is in Aug w/ no AC in the church. Any styles ideas would be much appriciated. Pictures, websites, stores anything I'm desperate.
Women Only: How about this idea for the wedding? Hi, Thanks for your feedback. Like I said I will be getting a nice suit down the line, but in the time being this is what I got. Now another idea is wearing grey pants with the blue sportcoat. Here is an idea of what it looks like because this is the exact sport coat, shirt and pants that I bought. The tie would be different because of the grey pants. http://www.execstyle.com/Sproducts.asp?pid=992 Well the other choice was tan pants, but I am trying to look a little nicer. I guess I should have mentioned that it isn't my wedding, but a good friend of my gf. Trust me if it was mine I would be wearing a tux.
Why are Christian women such retarded, idealistic prudes? No touching until at the altar? No first kiss until after the wedding? No 2-piece swimming suits? And these fundietards want to run our political offices? Oh God please help us!!! I'm a Christian male, I guess I meant to say young Christian women. I'm dating a more MATURE Christian woman now who is not so ridiculous and anti-intellectual as these younger ones.
What should I wear to a formal Mexican Wedding? I am going to a wedding in Monterrey, Mexico in a few weeks. The invitation states Formal, but the groom says dark suits for men (not tuxedos). As a woman, how should I shop? Evening gown or just a very nice dress? Wedding starts at 9 pm. Someone please help me! I hate to be over or under dressed for the occasion. The bride is Mexican. The groom is American but lives in Mexico (has dual citizenship)
Do you like this dress for my wedding? I am having a courthouse wedding on the 19th of July. Then after we are taking the whole family out for a nice reception dinner at a fancy restaurant. I know it's the courthouse, but I still wanted to wear at a least a simple white dress to my wedding. What do you think of this one? My hubby to be is Greek and I think the dress is very Grecian-style so it suits the occasion. My body type is hourglass, if that helps. And please don't advise me to get a fancier dress. It's not what I am going for. http://shop.nordstrom.com/S/3009250?cm_cat=datafeed&cm_pla=dresses:women:dress&cm_ite=adrianna_papell_cutaway_chiffon_dress:246586&cm_ven=Froogle&mr:trackingCode=47FCCFFD-D981-DE11-B712-001422107090&mr:referralID=NA
Wedding color thoughts and suggestions please? I need some pallet ideas to incorporate pink, orange, light antique gold or ivory together in a very springy/ semi formal romantic fun event. The dress I want is very lacy but strapless and beautiful! The men can wear all black for their suits and the shirt in ivory. The women could even wear either black or champagne (a lil darker than the antique gold). I need help. Maybe add more colors or just give suggestions please.
What do i wear to a wedding as a guest when i am a plus size woman? i am attending a wedding in 3 weeks. i am 5'5 and very overweight. i can't wear anything that shows my legs because i am very fat in the legs as well. what are some things i can wear? the wedding is in a catholic church at 4pm followed by reception at a reception hall in a different location. i was thinking of wearing a suit, but don't know where to get a nice suit for a plus size woman

How can I stop from family members getting upset with me and wanting to have my wedding their way? I am a woman in my 30's who's engaged to a wonderful man. We are going to be married next year. My fiance & I are planning our own wedding & spending our own money. We agreed to have a small wedding. But my Mom is insisting on having alot of people at our wedding & she's even telling me who should be my bridesmaids & what I should wear at the wedding. I am of Indian origin my fiance is white. In my cultrue married women aren't supose to be the bridesmades but 3 of my briedsmaids are married. So my mom is telling me that her sisters unmarried daughter should be in my wedding but my cousin is not a good person & I don't want her in my wedding. Now my sis is backing out of being my maid of honer. When my fiance & I had problems I used to talk to her & seek advice. Now my fiance & I no longer fight & we have a healthy relationship. Now my sisters marriage is not all that healthy & she doesn't talk to me much & I even pick a wedding date that suited her's & her kids schedule. I am sad.
Would I insult Indians if I wore a kameez and churidar at my wedding? Hi there. I am a non-Indian, but I love the style and beautiful fabrics of clothes from India. There are many Indian women in my community and I have always admired how comfortable and feminine they look. I am engaged and over 40. I do not want to wear a matronly suit or a dress. I would like to know if I would be insulting anyone by choosing a kameez and churidar to wear at my wedding. My fiance is not Inidan either.
If you are acustomed to do so, can you wear a really lavish, expensive dress to a wedding? Gucci or dior? My sister dresses in very expensive clothing. We have a wedding to go to. Its a family affair, but they are not as well off as my family is. My dad and I are wearing suits, which no one will really pay attention to because they're just suits, but when it comes to women, the dress is everything. I told my sister she should tone down the dress to something simple. She said she wouldn't change the way she dresses for anyone and would not start buying cheaper, less sheek clothing just because it would outshine anyone. Though she probably won't wear a gown, she'll probably be wearing an expensive designer dress that will definately make her the "bell of the ball". She is extremely beautiful and my cousin, the one that is getting married, and her have always been rivals. I think its wrong and my sis should just wear something simple from saks or neiman's, but not runway. what a mess.
Do women find a man in suit and tie hot?and if yes why? I wore a suit and tie,due to a wedding because I was invited and I had and my girlfriend with me,I saw her turned on and she confessed me after a good sex we had she found me hot with the suit and tie.Are Some women find men in suit and tie hot?and if yes why?I mean what makes you feel turned on?thanks
Can I wear black to a wedding? And what does "formal attire" really mean? ? I'm going to a wedding; it's at 4pm on a Sunday. The invitation says formal attire. To me, semi-formal means men in suits, and I would wear some knee-length sheath style dress. Black tie would mean men in tuxes, women in floor length gowns. "Formal" means men in suits, women in... what? I tried to ask the bride, and she said "just wear black, you'll be fine". I thought you weren't supposed to wear black to a wedding. And it still doesn't answer the question of dress length. I thought I'd get something mid-calf or just above the ankle, but I can't find that. I only find just-above-the-knee or floor length.
What do I wear to officiate a wedding? I (a woman) have been asked to officiate at my brothers wedding next January. (Yes, I'm legal to do this.) I don't know what to wear, though. I am non-denominational Christian, so I don't have clerical robes or any other "official" outfit or anything. Men typically would wear a suit... but what does a women wear? Part of my issue is it's a formal wedding, and part of it is that it's my brother... I don't want to be too stuffy but I don't think I should wear a strapless dress like the bridesmaids, should I? Isn't that a little too...?? Any ideas? (Oh, and I'm 33, though I look 25, in case that matters.) I'm not a regular pastor and it IS my first wedding!! :)
what to wear to a formal black tie wedding? first of all - let me be clear - i KNOW what the rules are for a formal wedding. i know it's tuxedo for men & floor length gown for women. my question is about bending the rules. my step-brother has planned a black tie formal evening wedding. after speaking with family members, i know some of the men have chosen not to rent a tuxedo since they will be guests and not in the wedding party. i am up in the air as to what to tell my husband to wear. he doesn't want to wear a tux, so i think he should wear a black suit with a white button down shirt (or cream colored shirt to match my formal cream gown) and a regular long straight black tie. does this offend anybody if he doesn't wear a tux? i know that our close friend as well as my brother-in-law will not wear a tux. should my husband wear a white shirt to be more formal or cream colored shirt to match me? nobody in the wedding, including my mother and the bride has any problem with me wearing cream. the bride is in white and the bridesmaids are in pink. my question really comes down to this - white or cream for my husband?
Black Tie or very formal wedding? How do you let guests know that it is a black tie or very formal wedding? My friend is having one and what should they put on the invites? She wants the men to wear at least a nice suit and women in nice attire. The wedding starts at 6 and the reception will have a cocktail hour and then the reception which we plan on lasting pasted 1am. How do we express to the guests that this is a formal wedding?
What ideas do you have to help a mature woman have a successful Christmas wedding? I am a mature Black woman who will be marrying my much younger fiance' for Christmas. I have been checking David's Bridal and other sources for suggestions. I have not been successful. This is my third and his second. This is it for both of us. I am not concerned about huge bridal parties, elaborate clothing, etc. We just want somethin simple and tasteful. I would prefer wearing a nice cream colored tailored suit with veil and for him, a matching cream colored suit. ( I am leaning toward wine, cream (winter white) and gold.) with sprinkles of green (don't want to be too Christmasy) My daughter will be my bridesmaid, his son will be his groomsman. I have not decided on the "time". With it being Christmas Day - I was thinking, either late morning, or early afternoon. I could really use some unique ideas. I live in a lovely complex with a wonderful clubhouse that features a fireplace, kitchen (oven, sink, etc,) I would probably have someone play piano music or CD's. I'd also like . or a selection of CD's of our favorite music. What would you suggest for food? I am inviting about 50 people or less. If you know any websites, I would be interested. I had also thought about having the wedding the Sunday prior to Christmas and surprise my church congregation and marry after the service. The funny part would be, they would know something was up because I play the piano and would have to get up and change clothes....I want to do something special and nice for us. We have had many challenges in our 7 year relationship and we have come a long way. We have defied all laws to this point (illnesses, surgeries, death of my parents, my daughter going away to college, sobriety) and we still have joy, love and respect of our relationship in spite of those who did not think we would last this long because of our age. (me 54, him 32). I still believe that God's love can conquer all evil, challenges and produce faith in people. Thank you for your help. Thank you Christina for your input. I do believe in Jesus very much, but my faith in Him and the love He has for me is way beyond the commercialism that the "world" has placed on this day. While we celebrate the birth of Christ on this day, my studies have shown that He was not born during the winter season. Additionally, I celebrate Christs' birth, life, death and resurrection each and everyday of my life through the love I show to all mankind. I just wanted to thank those who have responded so far and to hopefully clear up any misconceptions about the choice made for our wedding. I know Christmas is a family day and also the day that we have been taught Christ was born. I wasn't selfish enough to expect people to loose sight of their own convictions and celebration to spend with us. We are talking about twho hours at most of less than 50 people. Additionally, since it was also during my birthday, my friends, sister and several other people were the ones who put the idea of Christmas Day in my head. I'm not rude and I do consider and recognize our Lord and Savior and family. But thanks to all of you who respond. I do appreciate your input. (smile)

How can I politely tell my customer that she needs to wear a fitted bra? I'm making a custom suit for a woman for her wedding. She wears a bra that completely flattens her out. I have to go take her measurements today, and I really think that the measurements will be affected by the bra that she wears on her wedding day. How can I politely suggest that we first go bra shopping? Thanks!
Wedding Jargon- How do I say 'wear a suit to the wedding' ? Ok. Now there are all these options with writing wedding invites when it comes to dress.I know that specifying dress is considered rude, but knowing my family and friends (and partners friends) if I don't specify someone will turn up in jeans and thongs. I want guests to come in what I would call formal dress, however the emily post definition of formal suggests that 'formal' indicates black tie. I Don't want black tie,I want suits and formal dresses for the ladies. Emily Post suggests that I should write semi-formal,which indicates suits for the men and dresses for the women, but I am afraid that if I write semi-formal it means that again, someone will interpret it as jeans. On the other side of the coin hubby to be is wearing a suit not a tux so I don't want to write formal and then have embarrassed guests who turn up in a tux. What do I write on the invites???
What can i wear to a Wedding ? My brother in law gets Married next year in July and i don't have any clue what to wear .
